Good News Summer Works Scheme

I am delighted to inform parents, guardians, and students that St. Aidan’s application to the Department of Education for funding to refurbish our toilet facilities has been successful. The school has been awarded a sum in the region of €250,000 for this work and this should enable us to make substantial improvements to the facilities. This money is being given to the school by the Department of Education through its Summer Works Scheme.

We have long felt that the toilets in the school are not of a good standard for the students and staff and this is simply because of their age. Despite the best efforts of the caretaking and cleaning staff the toilets look old and are in poor condition. This funding is a great opportunity for us to have suitable modern facilities for all in the school.

It has always been a source of pride to us how well the students respect any of the new facilities in the school. Our current lockers have been in place for eight years and apart from an odd bit of wear and tear, they are largely unmarked. Equally the canteen furniture, which has been in the school for about the same length of time, is in very good condition. I look forward to this latest improvement in the school facilities.

I will keep families informed as the works progress
