Junior Girls GAA Match v Balbriggan

Junior Girls GAA Match v Balbriggan

Junior Girls GAA Match v Balbriggan

The girls had their second match of the season today, captained by the ever positive and enthusiastic Tori O Neill and it ended in a draw; 5-6 to 5-6. It was an enthralling game with end to end attacks, our girls were fantastic. It was clear from the beginning that most of the Balbriggan team all played for local clubs around the area, but once our girls settled into the game, their confidence grew and it was very hard to tell which team had regular gaelic players. The referee even commented on how many great players we had at the end of the game, noting Majella Tuffy in particular who was outstanding, scoring 1-1 from half back! Sarah Oloshuto and Jessie Fowler were a constant thorn in the Balbriggan defence, and Casey McMahon and Siobhan McKillion were fantastic in defence. It was Kira Byrne's first start in goal for the team and her kick outs were brilliant and she made some excellent saves to keep us in the game. All of the girls really played well and they're really gelling as a team. We were ahead by 1 goal with 6 minutes to go and a final scramble on the goal mouth saw Balbriggan hit the net with the last kick of the game to end the game in a draw. Up next are St.Finians in Swords next Wednesday.
